The Client
In December 1989 Vodafone Germany received the first private license for a digital mobile telephony network in Germany. A unique success story began: With now more than 34 million customers, more than 8 billion in sales and more than 9.000 employees Vodafone Germany is one of the biggest and most modern telecommunication providers in Europe.
Today Vodafone Germany stands for single-source communication:
- mobile telephony
- fixed network
- fastest data services
Vodafone Germany belongs to the Vodafone-Group and thus to the worldwide biggest mobile telephony company with more than 252 million customers.
The Challenge
With its customer information and billing system Vodafone Germany operates one of the most complex and powerful billing systems. Due to permanent new requirements for marketing, sales and/or operational reasons, at fixed intervals several times a year, new releases with added or altered functionality are being produced.
There are many satellite systems around this customer data and billing system,
- to proceed the business cases in the regions in the more than 1.600 shops and partner agencies
- to swap particular functionalities into own applications, e.g. campaign management (customer bonding system) or incentive engines (reward for particular customer actions)
- to enable private and business clients to execute the essential business cases via internet
In addition Vodafone Germany operates one of the biggest and most complex data warehouses.
For this gigantic IT-landscape an enormously high level of quality management is necessary.
The Solution
Xionet employees hold key positions in the various quality management teams directly at Vodafone or at the Vodafone supplier EDS in order to enable the quality assurance of the different applications:
Xionet employees manage and test
- in the system tests of the individual applications
- in the integration tests with various applications
- in the end-to-end tests across several applications
- in the load tests of the business cases
The Result
Xionet employees are important persons of contact on the subject of testing and quality management of the central Vodafone IT-applications. The Xionet employees combine in-house telecommunication know-how with the most advanced quality requirements.
In addition Xionet employees are not only involved in the development and testing phase but they also provide 2nd level support on the analysis of production problems. They also render qualified support and consult on customising problems resulting from the dynamic change in market requirements.
